Curfews in the US have historically been implemented to restrict the physical and political movement of black people. In defiance of a city-wide curfew in Oakland, about 2,000 gathered in the continued call for systemic change and an end to police brutality. Starting at 8 p.m. demonstrators sat in the intersection of 14th and Broadway as the sunset and curfew officially went into effect.
